Falafel Brothers in Brick was named to Yelp's list of 25 best falafel places in the U.S. -- ahead of National Falafel Day (Friday, June 12).

The Kwara family opened their first shop -- Ibby's Falafel -- in Jersey City in 1994. Then, they opened another one in Freehold in 2008.

That store closed but relocated to its current location in Brick, and is run by the five Kwara brothers: Nedal Kwara, Adnan Kwara, Rabie Kwara, Firas Kwara and Diaya Kwara

The brothers, whose parents moved to the U.S. from Syria in 1978 -- use recipes that have been passed down from previous generations for more than half a century.

They are getting ready to reopen after the COVID-19 crisis forced their stores shut.

“COVID-19 was challenging for us and forced us to shut down for some time,” the brothers told Daily Voice. “We’re now just reopening to serve our loyal customers.”

“We feel humbled and honored to be recognized as one of the top falafel joints in the USA," the brothers added.

"We take great pride and love in everything we serve our customers. We truly appreciate the honor and can’t wait to continue serving great food.”
